Charities
This is the most important part of the rally. The main objective is to raise at least 1000 €â€‹ for our charities Chamos and CoolEarth (500 €â€‹ each)
Travel expenses
Car, fuel, spares & related equipment (3000 €)
Believe it or not, our rusty chariot actually did not come for free and needed a bit of a new look and revision. A spare wheel or two will not be redundant.
We must prepare to spend a few nights without a hostel in sight (or at least not in the nearest 1 000 km around) and thus will need camping equipment, alongside basic travelling gear.
That includes a first aid kit, cooking gear, lamps, etc.
Food & Accommodation (2000 €)
Although fighting Central Asian tigers at night is what we usually do between lunch and coffee on a daily basis, we actually plan to stay at hostels during most of the trip. Thus, our budget for accommodation and "food" (we agreed that not knowing more about what we will eat is the best thing to do) is consistent but coherent.
Visas, plane tickets, insurance & administrative expenses (3000 €)
No one will teach Frenchmen that administrative labyrinths can be a nightmare. It looks like central Asian states took some serious "French bureaucracy 101" course because VISAs are actually expensive and long.This also includes our plane tickets to come back to France and the fee to bring back our metal horse charger on the Trans-Siberian.
Current & unexpected expenses (2000 €)
As you might expect, we will probably encounter unexpected issues and expenses during our trip. They are part of the rally and we might as well plan for it.Not that we desperately want our car to be in need of repairs in Kazakhstan, but the roads there might have a different opinion...
